For my second set of abstract concepts, I have included "Banana on Wall" and "The Jelly Stream". For those of you who don't know, the banana on the wall comes from the comedian artist Maurizio Cattelan who famously taped a banana to a wall at a gallery and sold it for $6.2million at an auction. And while people can defend it as meant to be a satirical take on the art world, to me, it was not art. So mine is meant to be a denunciation on that idea using real paints and effort and time to make a counter-point.
The jelly stream is different. While it may not seem apparent given the amount of pugs I paint, I also have a deep love for jellyfish. And before pugs were on my radar, I've always been in love with jellyfish. To me, they float through the sea as free as can be the way I wish I could float.
