Orignally I made a smaller and simpler version of this dog for their owner, but something about the dog stuck with me. I think we do a disservice to animals as artists, thinking their portraits are lesser to humans when they contain thoughts and ideas as well. Like Schenck, I wanted to make the animal the subject asking us to do as I do so often, wonder what it must be thinking behind the glass as the world happens outside.
